FR. LUKE ABDELSHAHEED
Father Luke and his identical twin brother were born in England in 1982 to wonderful parents. They eventually moved to Egypt and finally came to Canada in 1989. He grew up at Virgin Mary and St. Athanasius Church in Mississauga, Ontario, where he began serving in Sunday School in 1999. Since then, he has been involved in multiple services throughout many churches in the GTA. These services include Sunday School, Youth Group, local and international mission and evangelism services and Catechism ministry. He was ordained a priest by the hands of H.H. Pope Tawadros II on July 5, 2025, for the altar of St. Maurice & St. Verena Coptic Orthodox Church.
Father Luke completed his undergraduate degree at McMaster University, followed by his medical degree at the University of Toronto. He then completed a Respirology fellowship. As a physician, Father Luke has always had medical ministry and serving the sick as core foundations in his life. Matthew 25:36 “I was sick and you visited Me” has always been a verse he modelled his service after.
Father Luke is happily married to his wife, Christina, and is a proud father of three wonderful and energetic boys. He loves all kinds of sports, but will describe his family as a basketball family. Let’s go Raptors!!!
