FR. JAMES DEIF

Fr. James Deif was born in Egypt, and in 1986 his parents immigrated to Canada when he was two years old.

He holds a degree in Information Technology from York University, with a specialized stream in Management. For more than 17 years, Fr. James worked in the field of technology, talent acquisition and human resources. Most recently, he served as the AVP and Global Head of Talent Acquisition Excellence at Manulife, where he led international teams across Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Singapore. His leadership experience provided him with valuable skills in relationship building, problem-solving, influence, and public speaking — all of which have greatly enriched his ministry and service in the Church.

Fr. James has been dedicated to church service from a young age. His family attended St. Mark’s Church in Toronto until 1989, when they became one of the founding families of St. George Church. For over two decades, he faithfully served in many areas of ministry, including the high school youth group, university and graduate programs, Sunday School, and Servants’ Preparation.

A central focus of Fr. James’s ministry is his deep passion for serving youth across all ages — from children and teens to young adults and graduates. He is committed to walking alongside them in their spiritual journeys, addressing their challenges, and guiding them to encounter Christ in a personal and transformative way. At SMSV, he continues to serve actively in this area, helping to nurture and strengthen the spiritual lives of the next generation.

On a personal note, Fr. James is a devoted husband and father. He has been married to his beloved wife, Sherry, since 2010. Together, they are blessed with three children: Timmy, Gabby, and Max.
