Volunteers from St Maurice and St Verena Coptic Orthodox Church participated in the weekly Saturday Lunch at St. John the Compassionate Orthodox Mission in downtown Toronto. Volunteers helped with setting up and cleaning the dining area, helped prepare and serve the meal and were able to briefly experience a glimpse into the dynamics of Orthodox urban-missions. Once the meal program had concluded, the volunteers also helped with transforming the dining hall into the nave of St. Silouan’s Parish for the Sunday morning Divine Liturgy. The volunteers had an opportunity to spend some fellowship with the servants of the mission and also spend a few quiet moments in the midst of icons in the Church that is connected to the dining hall.
