BIOGRAPHY

Michael has a deep passion for supporting and growing the church community and believes that his skills and experience as a professional and volunteer make him an excellent candidate for this role.

As a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Michael has a wealth of experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting. In his day-to-day role, he oversees the organization’s financial functions, leads financial projects and initiatives, and manages a team of finance professionals. Michael is also the key individual at the organization he supports to address the Board on several financial and strategic matters. This experience has given him the skills and knowledge necessary to support the church’s vision.

Michael is also passionate about financial literacy and has been actively involved in initiatives to promote financial education in Canada. Through his work, he has developed a strong commitment to serving his community and helping others understand the importance of sound financial management.

In addition to his professional experience, Michael has also served on the Board of Directors for Credit Counselling Canada. This role has given him valuable insights into the workings of a board, including the importance of teamwork, communication, and strategic planning. He believes that his experience in board management will be an asset to SMSV and is eager to bring his skills and passion to this role.

It is important to Michael not only to serve his community through his professional skills but also through his spiritual beliefs and practices. He is a proud member of the Coptic community and believes that serving others through his faith is a crucial part of his spiritual journey. As a board member, he would be dedicated to supporting the spiritual growth and well-being of the Coptic community at SMSV Church.

VISION

As a member of the Board I will embody SMSV’s mission and vision in my career by being a positive influence, promoting the love of God, supporting organizations that align with the church’s values, volunteering in my community, and using my platform to inspire others. Through my professional experience, it will provide me the opportunity to share those skills with the Board and provides opportunities to focus on spiritual growth and community service, and I am committed to using my skills to make a positive impact in the lives of those around me.

IDEAS / SUGGESTIONS

  1. Financial Literacy workshops – offering financial literacy workshops for church members to help them better manage their finances and make informed financial decisions.
  2. Discover and consider new opportunities to generate revenue in order to assist the church to continue to expand its ministry.
  3. Enrolling the church as a center for the community to have accountants prepare tax returns at no cost to those in the community who are in need.
