BIOGRAPHY

I believe that we are all members of the ONE body and how we operate as one is through love and fellowship. I believe it is important that everyone is heard and feels embodied in a loving community.

Through organization, project management, and stakeholder engagement, I can be the ambassador of our congregation at the Church Board. I especially enjoy using my voice to present information in an engaging way that is simple to understand. I was born in North York, grew up in Mississauga and became an active member in SMSV during the last 3 years where I conducted stakeholder engagements to fill gaps in the services and reengage members who are now integral to our services today.

I started to serve in the CREW service during the peak of restrictions and shutdowns with a vision in mind. Through leading CREW over the last year and a half, I have initiated cross-collaborations with over half a dozen ministries at SMSV bringing new delightful events and activities that served a need in the congregation and neighbouring communities.

Moreover, I actively listen to members and quickly implement their feedback. This is evident in how quickly the CREW ministry has continuously improved. I enjoy administrative and operational tasks which are evident in the documents and planning created as well as going the extra mile to accommodate others.

What separates me from others is my multi-disciplinary experiences. I graduated from the University of Waterloo in the Environment and Business program and worked in multiple industries such as Marketing, Start-ups and currently Technology. I know that through the glory of God, I can be entrusted to contribute to the Church Board with a fresh perspective, proven success track record and strong work ethic to service.

VISION

I will contribute to SMSV’s vision of Love, Integrity and Outreach as I have consistently accomplished in the past 3 years especially as the lead of SMSV’s CREW Young Adults ministry in the last year. I will contribute to governing administrative matters such as building matters, bylaws, and other matters the board sees fits. For instance, I will contribute utilizing my skills of organization, project management, stakeholder engagement and more.

During the last year, I have documented and implemented feedback from the CREW Young Adult’s ministry; I will continue to represent their matters as the future of the church. I will voice the feedback from the congregation to the board. This will provide the board actionable insights to implement.

I particularly enjoy the contributing to operations and administrative tasks for instance organizing cross ministries events such as the Very Merry Christmas Week and Career Nights.

Other examples of administrative tasks I can contribute to my service at the church board includes organizing effective stakeholder engagement and presenting the Church Board public information via interactive PowerPoints to increase engagement.

IDEAS / SUGGESTIONS

  • Collaboration with the Coptic Museum of Canada, Coptic Art Communities, and Historical Coptic Projects because one of the Coptic Orthodox biggest strengths is our heritage. According to my analysis, activities that focus on Coptic heritage not only brings inspiration and connection but also curiosity and diversity to the church.
  • Unity of ministries and sharing of ministry resources. Some keyways to foster unity is documenting all the internal services in one depository i.e. Google folder accessible to everyone with an @SMSV.com domain. With an FAQ documentation, guide, and operations for ministries to learn from each other and communication for cross collaborations.
  • SMSV Annual Ministry fair. A fair of all the ministries at SMSV open to the public, inviting those to understand how SMSV can serve both the internal and neighbouring communities.
  • SMSV Theater group. A ministry in which participants practice plays and presents them to the congregation at celebrations such as New Years. The theater group will also conduct fun improv classes to encourage all walks of life to stretch their comfort zone and socialize with other members through Christ’s name.
  • Create a multicultural night at SMSV with different sections of the church (not include the sanctuary), representing a different country. This will engage our neighboring communities to experience a new culture.
  • Creation of a large mosaic icon. A series of event where members of the congregation regardless of age have a change to glue at least one of the many pieces to the icon.
  • Use of the 3D virtual events tool for the annual financial review meeting to create more engagements and delightful online experiences
  • SMSV’s Recreation of the Alpha Series from the Orthodox perspective. The recreation of the Alpha series would be a series of videos and questions to engage anyone who wants to learn more or new to Orthodoxy.
  • Many more ideas to come
