2014-2-9

The church held its annual Chinese New Year celebration on February 9, 2014 at Brebeuf School. Many church members shared the significance of this celebration to the entire Asian Community. Our congregation learned many customs and traditions surrounding this feast and knew about the significance of the Year of the Horse. Of great interest was the knowledge that many Chinese characters used in writing have biblical references to stories especially from the Old Testament. We also heard some of the challenges that Christians are currently facing in China and how we can better witness to our neighbours. The hall was decorated in red and gold arrays and some children were wearing the customary Chinese outfits. Following the presentation, every one tasted some traditional Chinese sweets and exchanges candy.  We are very thankful to God that we live in an ethnically diverse Country which embraces all cultures where we can all live together in harmony and learn from one another. God bless every ministry for the glory of His name.
