The church held its first celebration of Black History Month on Sunday, February 26th. Several members of the congregation spoke about historical events of slavery, the civil rights movement, and African American and Canadian contributions to Christianity, arts, science, and defending freedom. A Poem and a song were also shared which reflected the time in history of the abolition of slavery.  Fr. Pishoy presented a poem entitled “I Have a Dream” modeled after the famous speech of Martin Luther King Jr. given on August 28, 1963. Following the Liturgy, the congregation shared in Jamaican finger foods and received pamphlets recognizing the event. Overall, it was a blessed event that strengthened our diversity and unity in Christ.
