BIOGRAPHY

I grew up in the Roman Catholic Church but began attending SMSV in 2011/12, I was later confirmed into the Coptic Orthodox faith in 2015 while on the mission trip in Bolivia. My parents were born in India but immigrated to Canada and found one another. I have two younger siblings and we are Chinese and speak the lesser-known dialect of Hakka. I married Peter in 2017 and we have a 2-year old son who loves playing with his cymbals and triangle when we watch SMSV on YouTube. I currently work as a coordinator in the corporate office at a Toronto hospital where I support improvement initiatives for clinical programs. The most elevating compliment come from those who I have managed to make their non-clinical work easier.

I would like to express my interest in becoming a nominee to serve on SMSV’s board for a 4-year term. I imagine I will be quite busy with little ones, but partaking in the administrative matters of SMSV as a board member will be a high priority for me. SMSV is my home and it is/will be the home for my children and I want to ensure that they will always feel loved and included in our multicultural home. I will voice my perspectives in order to fulfill our mission of staying faithful and glorifying God by ministering to all of His children.

VISION

I will contribute to the mission and vision of SMSV by voicing my perspectives and bringing new ideas/suggestions as a second generation Canadian from Chinese (Hakka) parents who immigrated to Canada as second-generation immigrants from India, and have attended this church for over a decade. I believe my cultural perspective will help allow me to be more respectful to our diverse members attending or other wanting to attend our church.

IDEAS / SUGGESTIONS

I would like to suggest the idea of hosting cultural events to bring people together and to understand what our mosaic church congregation is comprised of.
