In a historical ceremony which was held at Queen’s Park on Thursday, January 24th, the Hon. Michael Chan, MPP, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, presented Fr. Pishoy with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. This medal which commemorates the 60th anniversary for the rise of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne, serves to “honour outstanding citizens for their dedicated service to peers, community and province. The contributions of these citizens have made Ontario and Canada a stronger and more vibrant place to live.” In the ceremony, the remarkable ministry of the church in the fields of mission and community were acknowledged and praised. We give God all the glory for this honourable recognition and we pray that the light of every church member would continue to shine within the parish family and throughout our communities. Fr. Pishoy dedicated this medal to the entire congregation of St. Maurice & St. Verena for their service to the community and commitment to diversity and multiculturalism. May our Lord always keep us focused on Him to fulfill His purposes in our lives. On behalf of Fr. Pishoy and the entire church community, we would like to extend our gratitude to Hon. Minister Michael Chan and his staff for the nomination and presentation of this valuable medal. We are also thankful to God to live in such a beautiful country, Canada, that honours and recognizes it’s citizens’ achievements.
