BIOGRAPHY

My name is Abeer Jack. I was born in Egypt and immigrated to Canada with my family in 2004. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Cairo and a Master’s degree in Economics from the American University in Cairo. I have had the privilege of working in several Global companies, including Nestlé and KraftHeinz, as a Senior Marketing Manager. During my time in these companies, I was responsible for managing brands that had a significant impact on people’s daily lives, from nourishing infants with Nestlé® and Heinz® Baby Food to providing a moment of joy with Kit Kat® chocolate, and providing balanced nutrition with BOOST®. Additionally, I led a number of Global initiatives that generated sustainable profit and instilled a new culture within the organization.

I have been a proud member of SMSV since 2009, where the non judgmental love of the congregation has been inspirational! I have served in the Community Service Ministry through various programs such as Good Shepherd Casseroles, Operation Christmas Child, visiting seniors and the sick, and other community events. My passion for helping people and serving the community is deep-rooted, and I find fulfillment in bringing a smile to someone’s face.

I am married to Sherif and have two sons: Karim and Nader. In my free time, I love exploring culinary arts by trying out new recipes in the kitchen. Keeping fit and healthy is important to me, so I enjoy taking a variety of fitness classes. I, also, love reading personal development books to help me grow personally and professionally.

VISION

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Church Board at SMSV and am committed to supporting the mission and vision of the church.

First and foremost, it is through prayer and living a life that reflects Christ’s teaching. Putting Christ at the center; I want to share the love he has shown me with others, I am able to embrace and accept others just as they are, and I have the passion to serve not only our congregation but our extended community as well.

Second, the values of love, integration, and outreach align strongly with my own beliefs. I am committed to act in kindness and generosity towards each member of the congregation and promote a culture of inclusiveness and compassion within the church. I will, also, strive to bring different perspectives and ideas to the table as a member of the board.

I believe diversity is a strength, and I am committed to promoting an environment where all members of the church feel heard and valued. Additionally, I am eager to work with the board to develop programs and initiatives that will help the church serve the wider community. I believe the church has a responsibility to make a positive impact on the world, and I am committed to doing my part to support this mission.

My education and experience in brand management and economics have equipped me with skills that I am motivated to bring to the church board.

I understand the importance of understanding people’s needs and creating relevant initiatives to fulfill those needs. My background in economics has taught me to make smart choices to optimize outcomes with limited resources.

I am eager to bring my values, skills, and passion to the board and make a positive impact for the congregation and community.

IDEAS / SUGGESTIONS

I am excited to share my ideas for enhancing our service at SMSV and strengthening our connection with both the existing congregation and the wider community.

1. “Celebrate & Connect” Bi-monthly Event:

To foster understanding, respect, and mutual learnings across generations, I propose organizing a series of intergenerational events that bring together members of different age groups to participate in spiritual and fun activities where everyone is included and heard. I believe these events can help build relationships between members of the church and promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

2. “The Future Makers” Quarterly Event:

To ensure the voice of our younger members is heard, I suggest hosting quarterly meetings between the priests/church board and the youth and children. These meetings will provide an opportunity for the younger members of the congregation to share their thoughts and ideas on the church’s services and activities, and ensure their needs and perspectives are being considered and are at the forefront of our efforts to improve and evolve. To keep these meetings engaging, I suggest incorporating interactive and fun elements, such as a “Dragon’s Den”-style pitch event or a “Family Feud” game to encourage participation and idea sharing among the young generation.”

3. “SMSV Mosaic” Bi-annual Event:

To celebrate the diversity of our community, I recommend hosting a culture festival that showcases the unique traditions, foods, stories, and cultures of the different ethnicities represented within the church. This event will provide an opportunity for members of the congregation to learn from each other, appreciate the diversity of the community, and build a sense of unity.

4. “Rooted In Kindness” Quarterly Event:

I suggest that our congregation engage in quarterly community outreach initiatives to support and strengthen our connection to the local community. These grassroots events could include a spring cleanup effort focused on beautifying the streets and parks surrounding SMSV, as well as volunteering opportunities at organizations such as the Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity.

5. “Harvest of Hope”:

I recommend the creation of a dedicated ministry whose goal is to generate funding for the church through various initiatives. These funds can then be redirected towards programs and activities that will benefit both the congregation and the wider community. This approach not only provides financial support for the church, but also demonstrates a commitment to serving the community and achieving the church’s mission.

6. “Pillars of Fire Mentorship”

I propose launching a mentorship program within the congregation, with a focus on connecting youth members with experienced and knowledgeable individuals within the church. This program will provide opportunities for personal growth, encourage the formation of meaningful relationships, and support the development of the next generation of church leaders.

I am confident that through the infusion of fresh perspectives, we can elevate our service to both the congregation and the broader community, fostering a more cohesive and connected community at SMSV.
