2014-July-5SMSV’s youth trips are great fun, and this year’s foray into Chicago July 1 to 5 was no exception— with Fr. Daniel and 44 Junior High, High School and counselor members. This year’s theme was “Plug into POWER,” where everyone learned how to access the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer (P), helping others (O), being in God’s Word (W), being equipped (E) and being ready to respond (R).  Along with spiritual nourishment, we enjoyed physical nourishment at famous Chicago restaurants such as Portillo’s, Ed Debevic’s, and Gino’s East. Other highlights of the trip included going on tours of downtown Chicago, the Shedd Aquarium, bargain shopping, watching the World Cup together, watching fireworks on the 4th of July, and having fellowship with the youth of the St. Paul Mission Church of Chicago. The nightly spiritual talks and daily quiet times, along with the fellowship and sermon at St. Paul’s Mission Church uplifted everyone, especially when SMSV’s praise team united with that of St. Paul to give God the glory. Thanks to our Lord, amazing friendships with the youth in Chicago were made and an amazing and blessed time was had by all.
