2016-sept-24-17On Saturday, September 24, 2016, SMSV participated in Doors Open Markham. This is a community event where various cultural sites around the city invite community residents to discover more about their culture, history and architecture.

SMSV welcomed 245 members of the greater Markham area for guided tours in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.  The community members ranged in age, ethnicity, and religious beliefs. Community members had a range of questions about Coptic Orthodoxy, the Christian faith, this parish, and the new building. They truly felt that the SMSV had been designed to welcome the community and embrace their interest.  Several of the guests returned to SMSV for our community outreach nights.

Many thanks to the volunteers from SMSV who organized the event, the greeters, tour guides, IT coordinators, and parking attendants. We look forward to many more community partnerships and are thankful for the opportunity to be the light of Christ in our new community.
